Neglect is a negligent act or omission by any individual responsible for providing services, which causes (or places a person at risk of) physical or emotional injury or death.
Examples include the failure to:
- Establish or carry out an appropriate treatment plan
- Provide adequate nutrition, clothing or health care
- Provide a safe environment, including adequate numbers of appropriately trained staff
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) has the authority to investigate all allegations of physical and sexual abuse involving Early Childhood Development, Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities programs at MHMRTC.
Client abuse at MHMR is governed by The Texas Administrative Code – Title 40 – Part 19 – Chapter 711.
