OPENING DOORS DINNER
APRIL 23, 2015
BENEFITING MHMR OF
MHMR Visions Foundation hosted its 8th annual Opening Doors Dinner on April 23, 2015 at Joe T. Garcia’s Restaurant. This event raises funds and educates guests about vital services that MHMR of Tarrant County provides to our community.
The dinner festivities included a silent auction, a raffle for a spectacular weekend package in downtown Fort Worth, and the popular “make my day” gifts to specific MHMR programs. These gifts included developmental toys for children in the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program, sports equipment for youth at Tarrant Youth Recovery Campus, and more. Special thanks go out to our wonderful Master of Ceremonies, J.R. Labbe. 100% of funds donated to the Opening Doors dinner go directly to MHMR client services.
This year, the Dominguez family shared the story of how ECI made a difference for their daughter Emma.
"We didn’t realize what we would need," David Dominguez said. “They give us the tools to help her. Together we are doing what’s best for her.” Thanks to the support that the Dominguez family received from MHMR, Emma is progressing well with her developmental goals.
The 2015 Opening Doors Leader Award was presented to Richard C. Adams, MD., in appreciation and recognition of his outstanding vision, leadership and commitment to children with developmental disabilities.
Dr. Adams is the medical director of Pediatric Developmental Disabilities at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and clinical professor of pediatrics at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is also a governor-appointed member of the Texas Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Childhood Intervention and the Texas Medicaid Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
